Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans offered its support for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
