This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own presidential-style act this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six-seven” – originating from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
