Supporters Call for Detainment of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the actress are calling for that a man who leaped a fence and grabbed the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway accompanied by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was due to appear on the next day. It is unknown if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram profile contains videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Fans Express Concern Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Several supporters criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote a further comment on Instagram.
A number of supporters also faulted guards at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande looked shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of supporters had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on November 21, is the second of a two-film adaptation of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely relationship between two contrasting characters.
The musical itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of the previous year in the UK, and earned a dozen Academy Award nods, securing several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
