Spurs Boss Frank Calls Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Supporters'
Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Tension on the Manager
Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "those individuals can't be true Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of scores in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth top-flight at home loss of the year.
However the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when the keeper gave away possession well outside his area.
He came out to handle a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.
However, rather than booting it into touch, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six yards.
Seconds afterwards when the ball went to Vicario once more, a number of Tottenham supporters booed him.
Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.
A particular of those jeering sessions truly angered the manager.
"I heard a few of our fans reportedly jeered the incident and jeered after, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"[They] can't be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Alright booing after the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are with each other going forward."
Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second-half showing.
Ex- Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the next goal was "completely preventable".
"I certainly understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role Vicario is performing. He's a great squad member, he's a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"He was heavily involved in what turned out to be the decisive goal."
'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game
Italy national team the keeper is in his 3rd season with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said after the match that he had to accept the criticism.
"That score was a mistake of mine, I accept responsibility for it," he said.
"The intent was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a poor manner. That made an even bigger mountain to overcome."
He stated receiving jeers "comes with football".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.
"It's on us to stay increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. We are lacking in composure and poise to reverse results. This match is a poor loss and it's tough to take."
'It Shocked Me Nobody Returned to the Line'
Despite Vicario's error, it was far from an easy score for Wilson to score.
Actually it was the next longest-range top division score of the campaign – after Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally also occurred on Saturday.
Wilson said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty net to target.
10 moments passed between the keeper exiting of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five moments following the kick.
"I felt like the keeper was out of the box for ages," he said.
"It amazed me not one of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my interest sparked a bit.
"Udogie fell too, which allowed me a bit of extra time. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the correct contact and get it on target. I had a positive sense, the moment it left my foot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank
Although the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an overall poor performance for Spurs to extend their home woes.
This was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint club record along with 1994 and 2003.
They still have home games against Frank's former club the Bees and champions Liverpool to come before the end of the season.
Just a single of those wins have occurred since Frank replaced his predecessor in the summer.
"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," said the boss.
"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the first was a redirected shot, the next is a mistake from the keeper.
"The outcome puts us in a place where we have suffered another match. Each fixture has a unique narrative, today we were defeated in the early stages.
"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was much better and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."
Spurs have lost four straight home London derbies for the first time in the top division.
And they are averaging nine point five shots and 3.2 shots on target per game in the Premier League – their poorest rates on record in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He must accept the stick," Murphy remarked. "He has taken a prestigious job at a major team with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.
"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
