Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
