Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and insanity with the same glee, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose work have exemplified all of those elements.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by having a new location and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Each game is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the essence of society through this intricate and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and bring our common unconventional, ambitious approach to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
