England's Fabio Wardley is expected to be elevated to world boxing champion after Usyk decided to relinquish his world title
This development comes after Ukrainian fighter informed the World Boxing Organisation he would not proceed with a mandatory title defence against the British challenger

Usyk still holds the WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight titles, having beaten his British opponent at the famous London venue in the summer month to become a repeat unified title holder
He initially achieved the four-belt undisputed champion in spring 2024 by overcoming Tyson Fury, before vacating another belt shortly after and deciding not to fight the required opponent

But Wardley, 30, took the interim title from the New Zealander with a major surprise in the later stages at London's O2 Arena recently and was ordered to fight the champion before the end of September
The WBO is yet to officially confirm the title change but his promoter Frank Warren believes it is a certainty
