Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

The manager lamented familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
